Monthly Photo – Above the Clouds, 2016

Relationship between reality and imagination is basically the base of my art practice.

I have always loved fantasy books. Where the writer has the possibility to create a whole new world without the limitations of reality. The endless possibilities and the mystical, mostly dark atmosphere in these books have always amazed me. Mainly because behind the magic and wonders these stories are so real. We just have to look at them from a different point of view to learn so much about our lives, about ourselves.

When we open a book we are able to step into a different world and this is truly magical. This is exactly what I want to achieve with my art. I hope when you look at my images you can see both the truth and the magic behind them. If you are then I have already achieved my goal. πŸ™‚

Photography gives me the possibility to “become a writer” and capture my own fantasy world without having to say or write a word.

This shot was inspired by the beautiful landscape of Wexford, Ireland. Although when I took the shot of the background of the final image I wasn’t sure how I want the finished piece to look like.

I found the landscape so beautiful, like something out of a fairy tale. I knew I wanted to create something “fantastic” to suit the beauty of it.

Above the Clouds is a representation of the connection between Human and Nature.

It was also inspired by the story of Cinderella, which was one of my favourite books growing up. Specifically the scene when she is running home at midnight. In the movement of my model I wanted to capture lightness, elegance but also dynamism.
